I’m 18 and studying cybersecurity, and honestly one of the scariest things I’ve seen online lately is voice scams🫣

Basically, scammers take short clips of your voice from TikTok, Instagram, or even a quick voicemail, then use AI to clone it. After that, they can call your family pretending to be you. Freaky, right? I just... can't.

Here’s the thing: these scams usually work because people panic. Imagine your mom gets a call that sounds just like you saying “I’m in trouble, I need money fast.” It feels real, and most parents wouldn’t stop to fact-check. That’s why scammers use AI voices; it just hits you emotionally before you think logically.

So how do you protect yourself and your family?

First, let them know this scam exists.

Seriously, talk to them about it. If they ever get a call asking for money, even if it sounds like you, they should double-check by calling you back on your real number.

Second, avoid posting too many clear audio clips online. I know it’s fun to do voice trends, but every sample makes it easier for AI tools to copy your voice.

Third, agree on a family “safe word” that only you guys know. If something feels off, that code word can confirm if it’s really you.

AI is powerful, and it’s not all bad, but scammers are fast at finding new tricks. The best defense isn’t fancy software, it’s your awareness💯

So, stay skeptical, slow down before reacting, and always double-check. Trust me, the safest answer is usually the simplest one🤗🤗
